The design details and materials of a home can directly impact mood and well-being.

Most rental apartments tend to be decorated in neutral white tones, but Joo Kodit is taking the market in a bold new direction. The company now offers rental homes with colourful Carefree, Classic and Urban interior design themes.

The vibrant themes have already been brought to life in Joo Kodit’s new buildings. As Oy Turun Huoleton was completed in March in Turku’s Pukkila neighbourhood, with its neighbour, As Oy Turun Rento, set to follow in June.

– We want to bring the kind of personality you usually find in owner-occupied homes to the rental market. During viewings, we’ve noticed that some of our material choices really split opinion, and that’s only natural. Home is a personal thing. That’s exactly why we’ve created three distinct design styles, so everyone can find the one that suits them best, says Joo Kodit Commercial Director Heta Kärki.

Colours support well-being

The colours and interior design of a home are certainly not meaningless, says interior architect Esa Naukkarinen, when asked to comment on Joo Kodit's interior design themes. He is quick to challenge the idea that white is always the safest choice.

– Many people believe white works for everyone and makes rooms feel more spacious. But in reality, it's not always the best colour for supporting well-being.

Colour choices can be used to create specific moods at home: they can calm, uplift, energise or promote relaxation.

– Colour isn’t just an aesthetic decision. It affects how we feel and function in everyday life. When the colours in your home reflect your emotional needs, they can reduce stress, improve focus and make the whole space feel more enjoyable, says Naukkarinen.

Homes at Turun Huoleton and Rento are also easy to personalise with the help of the free Joo Fixer service, which offers residents assistance with safely hanging paintings, mirrors, and ceiling lights.

– The apartment has a relaxing and cheerful atmosphere. Pale green is a calming colour, and combined with wood, it feels natural, homely and safe, interior architect Esa Naukkarinen describes the Carefree theme designed by Joo Kodit.

– Light-toned wooden cabinets bring natural warmth and a cosy feel, while white worktops and walls keep the space bright and airy. The overall impression is calm and fresh, interior architect Esa Naukkarinen says of the Classic theme.

The Urban design theme

– The material choices are ideal for people who see their home as an extension of their personality. The muted cabinet colour, paired with earthy tones in the countertop and splashback, creates a soothing atmosphere that perfectly counterbalances a busy lifestyle, comments interior architect Esa Naukkarinen on the Urban theme

Turun Huoleton Laundry

– The vibrant colours give everyday routines a welcome lift. The orange wall tiles energise the space, while the soft pink floor tiles and cabinets add surprising and attractive contrast. Combined with the pale green details, the overall feel is refreshing and stimulating; a far cry from your typical, boring laundry room. The colours can reduce stress and make everyday routines more enjoyable, even enabling moments of happiness, interior architect Esa Naukkarinen describes Joo Laundry designed by Joo Kodit.
